THE MAXILLARY ARTERY:

Netter Plate Number: 63

Branches of the Maxillary Artery:
1. Deep Auricular
2. Anterior tympanic
3. Middle meningeal
(this artery is crossed by the auriculotemporal nerve before passing up into foramen spinosum)
4. Inferior alveolar artery (dental):
a) Continues into the mandible and gives off the mental artery branch, extending to supply the tissues of the lower jaw.
b) Gives off lingual and mylohyoid branches.
5. Posterior Deep Temporal artery
6. Masseteric artery
7. Buccal artery
8.Anterior Deep Temporal artery
9. Sphenopalatine artery
10. Descending Palatine artery
11. Infraorbital artery
12. Posterior Superior Alveolar artery
13. Artery of Pterygoid Canal


This artery supplies the deep face, infratemporal fossa, tympanic cavity and muscles of mastication.
